Inside today's special alert:
Dear Reader,
Cholesterol lowering drugs increase the risk of kidney failure and cataracts, a new study shows.
Researchers at Nottingham University found that for every 10,000 women treated with statins for a year there would be 271 fewer cases of heart disease.
But, at the same time, the study of two million patients over six years found there would be:
- 74 extra cases of liver damage
- 23 extra cases of kidney failure and
- 307 extra cases of cataracts.
There would also be 39 extra cases of muscle wastage, another known side effect of statins.
These new findings are a worrying extension to the already very long list of side effects associated with statin drugs.
There's more about these side effects here:
We get emails daily from our 70,000 readers, with comments like:
"I have been on Simvastatin for two months, and for the last two weeks have felt as if I am on another planet! Severe headaches, dizziness, pains in my neck and buzzing ears. I have now come off them, never again will I take these!" - Sandy
"I have been on Simvastatin 40mg for about 1 year. I have all the symptoms of muscle aches and now suddenly hair loss" - Joanne
"I developed breast lumps with Simvastatin so I stopped taking them and the lumps disappeared" - Kathryn
"Was put on 5mg Rosuvastatin six weeks ago... At one point I was hardly able to walk - couldn't sleep because of pains in back shoulders and chest. I am 51 years old and feel like 90" - Michael
The problem is that when doctors prescribe statins they DON'T tell you that they seriously deplete your body of CoQ10.
CoQ10 is the vital heart nutrient produced by your body that naturally PREVENTS heart attacks and strokes by stopping inflammation in your arteries, lowering blood pressure and rejuvenating heart cells.
One in three people over the age of 45 in the UK currently take statins, but all these people – and you may be one of them – are putting themselves at risk.
Because by blocking the production of cholesterol in the liver, statins also block the production of Coenzyme-Q10 (CoQ10). A Columbia University study found that CoQ10 levels were reduced by HALF after only 30 days of statin treatments.
It's essential that people who take statins know this, because CoQ10 is vital for producing muscular energy. And a lack of this nutrient can cause the heart (which is a muscle) to function improperly, resulting in heart failure.
However, very few doctors who prescribe these drugs make this known to their patients!
Researchers have also discovered that if your levels of CoQ10 drop by as much as 75%, then it's 'game over', I'm afraid.
And yet, by the time we reach 80 years old, our ability to produce CoQ10 has plummeted by 65% anyway... so just imagine what's going to happen if you're approaching 80 AND also taking statins!
But, did your doctor warn you about this...?
So, if you still believe you should be taking a statin drug, now you know that it is imperative for you to also supplement with CoQ10.
I've put together a special report on statins and the Great Cholesterol Con here. I recommend you read it or pass it on to anyone you know who takes statins:
What's more, I've included details of a new form of CoQ10 discovered in Japan by Dr Tatsumasa Mae that delivers:
* 8 times more energy coursing through your veins
* 8 times more protection for your heart and arteries
* 8 times more anti-ageing benefits for your brain, skin, hair, eyes... and pretty much every other vital function in your body!
So if you, or anyone you care for, are taking statins - or being pressurized to do so - make sure you read the FULL facts here first... just in case you don't get to hear about them from your doctor or from your friendly neighbourhood drug company!
To your good health,
